Although I did enjoy learning about the science behind surfing and specifically nose riding, I did not particularly enjoy writing about it. The subject did interest me however at the end of the day it was a research paper. I couldn't be creative or add my own style to the piece which stripped the fun away for me. The research paper talked greatly about flow and the hydrodynamics involved with surfing, but the piece itself did not have much flow to it. Part of the problem might of been how my teacher made us do citations in a wierd way I have never seen before. Also, I noticed while reading back over the essay how abruptly it ends. The paper is just a bunch of facts with no literary pizzazz to it.
Since I have been making my own boards for a few years now, knew a good bit about the shape of nose riders, I just never understood as to why things were needed to be that way. I would walk to the front of the board, it would work, and i took that for granted. Actually understanding why it works was neat to learn about.
